Frisko Freeze

Maybe once upon a time this drive-in that has been around for awhile had a good burger, but not anymore. The irony is, as we were driving away wishing we could somehow erase our mistake, we passed a fairly new burger drive-in called Fantastic Burger that looked promising. The next time we're in Tacoma I'll see about checking it out.

Good Burgers Begin at Home

The foundation of any good cheeseburger is the patty. While shopping at the local Wal-Mart I thought to pick up some frozen patties since it is barbecue season. Normally I get the questionable meat variety, the kind that say it's 100% beef but when you read the label it contains beef parts. Well, when I saw the black angus patties I knew I had to bring them home with me. They were twice as much as anything else, but they are totally worth it! The center is thick enough so you can actually make a medium-rare burger. And they are JUICY. I got some nice rolls dusted with cornmeal and its a perfect match!

Questing in Portland

Our travels took us to Portland, Oregon, so while there I thought it would be a good idea to try to locate either a restaurant or drive-in we had never been to. I used CitySearch as a guide to locate the city's top ten burgers. My original pick was to visit Higgins Restaurant and Bar, but they didn't open until 4pm. Instead we opted for Giant Drive-In. Our review is posted for your reading pleasure.
